Byron graduated from New England School of Acupuncture at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science University and Tufts University School of Medicine, he gained special interest in pain management and integrative medicine research. He continues his training at Highland Hospital to become one of the first TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) residents to complete the TCM residency program from the Division of Integrative Medicine. He continued to volunteer for the International Center for Integrative Medicine on research. His research experience started from field research on NIH-funded research, Fueling Learning Through Exercise (FLEX) Study at Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and community health research from the Department of Community Health on Community Assessment of Freeway Exposure and Health (CAFEH) in the greater Boston area. During his training at Highland Hospital he initiated and successfully conducted two Institutional Review Board approved research. The first research focused on the unique patient demographics in the adult medicine clinic and the second research retrospectively studied the pain reduction and acupuncture utilization in the emergency department. His most recent research work involvement is on collaboration with Stanford University School of Medicine for the HEAL Initiative. The research is on a Pragmatic Randomized Controlled Trial of Acupuncture for Management of Chronic Low Back Pain in Older Adults.
