2022-2023 Group Presentations, Rocklin
During the Pandemic, Dr. Amy Matecki and Dr. Gabrielle LeCompte, in collaboration with Krishna Bachina of V-Lead, created Acupuncture Research, a community based project. This is an initiative targeted toward high school students with the purpose of Research Analysis with Critical Review of Articles. The objective is to provide opportunities for high school students to explore medicine through a critical analysis of the research literature and development of professional presentations. Objectives for the students are to:
- critically review articles in the medical research literature
- develop one topic for review and select relevant studies to analyze
- prepare and deliver an oral presentation on their analysis with confidence
- develop a poster presentation on their topic
- write a publishable analysis on their topic
This project began in 2020 and continues with weekly meetings by the students and mentoring by the ICIM faculty. There are currently eight study groups in place, each with an ICIM Mentor, Parent Mentor, college student with previous V Lead Project experience, and a high school student Lead. ICIM mentors for this year include Gabrielle LeCompte, Laurette Wright, Charlene Ossler and Colin Feeney.
